"The Pediatric Feeding Seminar was an explosion of vocabulary of applied behavior analysis. Not only were we instructed on the use of ABA in feeding situations, but it was an eye opener to the use of ABA in all situations. Ben Zimmerman clearly has a passion and depth of understanding in this area. I highly recommend this seminar to anyone looking to increase skills in pediatric feeding." - Cheryl, SLP

The
Pediatric Feeding Seminar is a seminar presented by
Los Altos Feeding Clinic Senior Consultant Ben Zimmerman BS, MS.

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) has long been proven to be an effective means to combat food aversions, food refusal, texture selectivity, food selectivity, tube weaning, and other problems with children who are failure to thrive (FTT).

This seminar will focus on behavioral methods to increase oral intake. It will also have information regarding nutrition, GI (gastrointestinal) anatomy, medications, conditions and diseases, and coping mechanisms for parents who have children with feeding issues.

Other topics to be discussed in the two part seminar include:

  • Devising effective protocols
  • Increase food intake to meet the caloric needs as determined by a dietician
  • Increase acceptance of a variety of foods
  • Decrease refusal behaviors associated with feeding
  • Eliminate G-Tube dependency (Gastrostomy Tube)
  • Eliminate NG-Tube dependency (Nasogastric Feeding Tube)
  • Eliminate bottle dependency
  • Decrease packing/pooling
  • Decrease vomiting/rumination
  • Eliminate pica
  • Facilitate consumption of higher textures
  • Train caregivers to implement a protocol designed specifically for your child’s needs
  • Special considerations with older children
  • Hands-on experience implementing different protocol components
